Best Beaches in Koh Phi Phi
Maya Bay
One of the best beaches in Koh Phi Phi is without a doubt Maya Bay. Made famous by “The Beach” movie, Maya Bay is my idea of paradise!
Swimming isn’t allowed to preserve the ecosystem but it’s still well worth a visit. And if you’re lucky enough, you might even spot some Blacktip reef sharks near the shore.
With rows of high-rising karst cliffs, the softest white sand, and a stunning turquoise lagoon, it’s not hard to see why Maya Bay is the most beautiful beach in Koh Phi Phi.
You can easily get to Maya Bay by hiring a private longtail boat for about 1,500 baht for 3 hours. Tours to Maya Bay are also very popular and available by longtail boats or speed boats.

Whether you choose to hire a private longtail boat or join a tour, you’ll also be able to visit Pi Leh Lagoon, Viking Cave, and Monkey Beach.
The entrance fee to Maya Bay is 400 baht for adults and 200 baht for children.

Ton Sai Beach
Ton Sai is the most popular beach on Phi Phi Island since this is where all boats drop off their passengers.
It can get very busy during the day but after around 3 or 4 p.m, most day trippers will leave the island and you’ll have the beach almost all to yourself.
The water is warm and crystal clear and not too shallow which is ideal for swimming. You’ll also find lots of restaurants and bars along the beach.
If you want to skip the crowds, I recommend heading toward the western end of the beach near Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort. Just be sure to avoid leaving your belongings near the cliffs as this is where the monkeys hang out.
Beach chairs are available for rent at 100 baht but the sand is very soft so you won’t necessarily need to rent one.

Loh Dalum beach
While Ton Sai is more popular during the day, Loh Dalum beach is the place to come in the evening for sunset, fire shows, and beach parties.
There are quite a few party hostels here so if you want a quiet night’s sleep I would recommend staying somewhere else. Nevertheless, Loh Dalum is very beautiful with stunning mountain views.
It also looks completely different during certain times of the day. At low tide, the water recedes all the way back and you’ll have to walk quite a bit to find a decent swimming spot. It’s best to swim during high tide but be careful of the waves.
If you’d like to visit the beaches nearby like Monkey beach or Nui beach, you can rent a kayak for about 100-200 baht per hour.
Boat taxis are also available but cost more – from 600 baht for 2 persons one way.

Long Beach
As one of the most underrated beaches in Koh Phi Phi, Long Beach is rarely crowded. You do have to walk a fair bit to get there which helps to keep the crowds low. Otherwise, you can hire a boat taxi to take you there.
From Phi Phi Bayview Resort, walk up the stairs until you see a sign showing the way to Long beach.
You’ll then have to follow a narrow concrete path that weaves around the jungle. Don’t worry as the walk is very easy with magnificent views over the lagoon.
You’ll first pass through Viking beach but if you keep walking, you’ll find more signs showing the way to Long beach. It should take about 15-20 minutes to get there from Phi Phi Bayview Resort or 30 minutes from Ton Sai.
The sand is super soft but unfortunately, the waves were quite strong when I visited. It might be because I was there during the rainy season but be careful when swimming especially if you have small children.

Lok Ba Kao Bay
Another beach worth mentioning on this list of the best beaches in Koh Phi Phi is Lok Ba Kao Bay, boasting powdery white sand and crystal-clear water.
Situated on the north coast of Koh Phi Phi, this beautiful white sand beach is home to SAii Phi Phi Island Village Resort.
It is a private beach so you’ll have to book a stay at the resort if you want to enjoy the beach.

Loh Lana Bay
Also on the north coast is Loh Lana Bay. You can get to this secluded beach in Koh Phi Phi by boat taxi or by hiking from Koh Phi Phi viewpoint.
I did the latter and the hike took about 45-60 minutes. I highly recommend using maps.me app as the trail can be confusing at times.
After hiking through the jungle, you’ll arrive at Phi Phi Island Village where you’ll find a couple of restaurants, shops, and hotels.
You’ll then have to walk across a bridge with a beautiful mangrove swamp below and follow a small dirt track before arriving at the beach. The waves here are a bit rough but it’s still a nice spot to sunbathe and relax.

Viking Beach
This is another small secluded beach in Koh Phi Phi located right between Ton Sai and Long beach. There used to be a hotel on Viking beach but it seemed abandoned at the time of my visit.
I didn’t swim there as the water didn’t look too inviting but there’s a small swing where you can take photos and enjoy the view over Ton Sai.
It’s not overly spectacular so I would only recommend stopping by for a few minutes if you’re already on your way to Long beach otherwise you can skip it if you wish.
