Looking for the ultimate Melaka street art guide? In this blog post, I’ll tell you exactly where to find all the best street art in Melaka.
Since it takes only 2 hours to get from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka, I highly recommend spending at least a day or two in this UNESCO World Heritage city to experience everything it has to offer.
One of the best things to do during a Melaka trip (well, apart from eating your weight in street food at the Jonker Street Night Market) is hunting for street art.
Just like in Ipoh and Penang, you’ll find an amazing collection of colorful murals in Melaka. Most of them can be found along the river bank while others are hidden inside alleyways.

Best Street Art in Melaka
The Orangutan House
One of the best Melaka street art is this huge mural painted on The Orangutan House, a little art gallery that sells paintings and fun graphic t-shirts. It’s located directly across from My Kiehl’s Heritage, so it shouldn’t be hard to find.

My Kiehl’s Heritage
The most popular piece of street art in Melaka is no doubt the My Kiehl’s Heritage mural. It’s located along a little side road not too far from the river.
The mural was painted by the artists Kiehl and Fritilldea (whose real name is Mohd Anuar) to commemorate the five World Heritage Sites in Malaysia.
Due to its vibrant colors and convenient location right in the middle of Melaka, it can get super busy. So, if you don’t want to wait in line for photos, I recommend visiting early in the morning, preferably before 9/10 a.m.

Street Art by the River
A little further away you’ll find an abundance of street art running along the whole length of the river. You can either take a Melaka river cruise or simply walk along the river to admire all the colorful murals.
One of my favorites is this huge mural illustrating the cultural diversity of Malaysian women. Next to it, you’ll also find a painting of a warrior getting ready to tackle someone with his sword.

If you walk further up north, you’ll find even more street art like this Eiffel tower one or this tiger mural. And as you walk under the Bridge of Chan Koon Cheng, you’ll find a whole display of vintage cars and a smaller version of Kiehl’s mural.

Melaka Street Art The Well
Here you’ll find a whole collection of murals illustrating the locals’ daily life – from kids playing to people eating at a local food stall.
Some murals also show people selling fish while others are cutting wood and forging metal.

You can have really fun here while taking photos as some of the street art are interactive like the one with the woman looking out the window.
If you explore deeper down the alley, you’ll find more graffiti-type art and another mural with two men unloading bags from a longtail boat.

Jalan Hang Kasturi
This street is found next to The Well and also has a couple of Malacca street art that you can check out, although some of them are starting to fade now.

At the end of the street, you’ll find the horses street art. It’s tagged as “Melaka Street Art: “Horses”” on Google Maps, so it’s very easy to locate.

Jonker Street
Jonker Street is one of the busiest streets in Melaka since its hosts the Jonker Street Night Market every weekend from Fridays to Sundays.
During the day, you can walk along the street to admire the murals and at the same time explore all the cute cafes and stores selling clothes, souvenirs, and all sorts of trinkets.
