Krabi Airport to Ao Nang by Taxi

If you’re traveling with a group, I recommend taking a taxi from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang.

This is by far the fastest and most convenient option especially if you’re arriving late at night and/or are in a hurry to get to your hotel.

If you book directly at the airport, a taxi from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang will cost 600 baht for up to 3 passengers or 1,050 for up to 9 passengers. The price is fixed so you won’t be able to haggle.

My top tip for saving money is to book your taxi online on 12go.asia as it’s much cheaper.

By booking online, you’ll pay only 550 baht for a private taxi (up to 3 passengers) or 600 baht for a private mini-van (up to 9 passengers).

You’ll also save time as the driver will already be waiting for you with your name written on a sign.

The distance between Krabi Airport and Ao Nang is about 28 km and the total journey by taxi should take approximately 40 minutes.

Shuttle Bus from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang

The cheapest way to get to Ao Nang from Krabi Airport is by taking the shuttle bus. The Krabi Airport to Ao Nang shuttle bus costs 150 baht per person making it the best option for those traveling on a budget.

The shuttle bus is basically a mini-van with comfy chairs and decent legroom and can accommodate 9 passengers plus the driver.

After buying your ticket, the airport staff will direct you to your shuttle bus. You’ll need to give the driver your hotel name and you’ll be dropped off directly at your hotel which is super convenient.

One thing to note is that the bus will only depart once it’s full. It will also make a few stops along the way to drop off the other passengers and in Krabi Town as well.

During my recent trip, I had to wait about 30 minutes for the shuttle bus to fill up and the total journey took about one hour.

Airport to Ao Nang by Car

Another way of getting to Ao Nang is by rental car. One main advantage of renting a car is that you get the freedom to stop wherever you like and visit the lesser-known spots like Klong Root, Guan Yin Bodhisattva Mountain Temple, or Din Daeng Doi viewpoint.

Traffic in Krabi isn’t as hectic as in Bangkok so it’s fairly easy to drive there.

As mentioned above the distance between Ao Nang and the airport is about 28 km and the driving time should take about 40 minutes.

Grab from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang

Another option is to hire a Grab taxi. The price fluctuates slightly depending on the time and demand but you can get an estimate by checking on this website.

Just keep in mind that you might need to wait quite a bit before finding a driver as Grab isn’t that common in Krabi yet.

Public bus or Songthaew

The public bus or songthaew is another way to get to Ao Nang. It cost 150 baht per person.

Personally, I don’t think the songthaew is worth it as the shuttle bus is more comfortable and costs the same. Plus, it’s more time-consuming and it might not always drop you off directly at your hotel.

But my preferred way of traveling from Ao Nang to Krabi Airport is by shuttle bus since it’s cheap at only 150 baht per person. You can book the shuttle bus from any tour operator in Ao Nang.

The driver will pick you up directly at your hotel so it’s super convenient. The bus will make a few stops along the way to pick up other passengers and the total journey should take on average one hour.

Depending on the operator, the Krabi Airport bus generally runs from 6.30 a.m to 5.50 p.m, daily (see photo below).

For example, if your flight time is between 1 p.m and 2.35 p.m, you can book the 10.50 a.m shuttle bus and you’ll arrive at the airport by 11.50 a.m.

Krabi International Airport isn’t too busy so you don’t necessarily need to get there 3 hours before your flight.

I’ve traveled through the international airport several times and it has always taken me about 10-15 minutes to check in and drop off my luggage and a further 10-15 minutes to get my passport stamped at immigration.

The domestic airport, on the other hand, is busier so you should plan to get there early enough.
