Cocoloko Restaurant

Situated along Grand Baie’s main road, Cocoloko restaurant provides the best dining experience whether you’re craving European, Asian or Mauritian dishes. The restaurant is set in the middle of a sandy courtyard dotted by coconut trees which will make you feel like you’re dining right on the beach.

Their menu is packed with a huge variety of dishes ranging from salads to burgers, pizza, curries and more. Those looking for the best restaurant in Grand Baie will definitely be spoilt for choice here!

I had the chicken and prawn curry which came with a portion of rice and a side of tomato and coconut chutney. The curry wasn’t spicy but they provided some green chili paste so you can control the spice level.

For dessert, I had a Coppa Danemark, a vanilla, pistachio and caramel ice cream topped with whipped cream, sliced almonds and caramel sauce. I recommend sharing between two people as the dessert is huge.

GoYuYu

$$ | Location on Google Maps

Located within the newly renovated Food Pavilion at La Croisette Mall, GoYuYu restaurant in Grand Baie serves some of the most affordable and delicious Korean food. They are best known for their bibimbap (mixed vegetables and meat served with rice), ramen noodles and Korean fried chicken.

GoYuYu has a variety of starters like chicken bites and mandu. I went for the shrimp and kimchi mandu which are steamed Korean dumplings filled with shrimp or kimchi and a mixture of vegetables. The kimchi mandu was slightly spicy while the shrimp one wasn’t. Both were very delicious and light and melted almost immediately in the mouth.

I also had a beef bulgogi which is thinly sliced beef cooked with veggies such as cabbage, carrots, and onions and served with a side of sticky rice.

The beef was very tender and the sauce was slightly sweet which made the dish taste even more delicious. They also have a chicken version for those who don’t eat beef.

The price of their main dish is on average Rs 150-450 (US$ 3.30-10) while starters and snacks start from Rs 100 (US$ 2.20). The service was great; the staff was friendly and it took less than 15 minutes to be served.

Since GoYuYu is located at La Croisette Mall, you’ll have plenty of space to park your vehicle and the bus station is located at the mall entrance. You also have the option to get your food delivered through the Delivery Dodo app.

The Food Factory

$ | Location on Google Maps

The Food Factory is situated along Sottise Road in Grand Baie. Although it’s slightly outside of the main tourist hub, it’s still worth heading there if you want to taste some of the most delicious food at a super affordable price.

The Food Factory is quickly becoming one of the best restaurants in Grand Baie due to the fact that they serve high-quality food while taking into consideration the healthy aspect. For instance, most of their food is served with a light garlic sauce instead of mayonnaise which sets them apart from other fast-food restaurants.

The restaurant has a rustic vibe with several beautiful paintings adorning the walls and the tables and chairs are made from upcycled wooden crates. There are lots of seating spots inside and outside the restaurant as well as a small fire pit with a few benches at the back. They also have a huge parking lot that can fit almost 100 cars and the bus station is found about a five minutes walk away.

Their menu offers a great variety of food such as chicken or lamb wrap, falafel, pizza and burger. For drinks, you can opt for soft drinks, fruit juices or coffee and finally finish off with some desserts like a brownie or carrot cake. They also serve chicken or beef briani on Fridays and Saturdays.

For lunch, I had the “Zoli Garcon” pizza, one of their best sellers. It contained slices of chicken, onions, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and fresh herbs topped with their famous garlic sauce. I also had some fries and a chicken Turkish wrap with a heaping portion of chicken and veggies coupled with a delicious pomegranate dressing and garlic sauce. Everything was fresh and tasted so good!

Overall, the service was quick and efficient; it took less than 10 minutes to be served. If you’re looking for a cheap place to eat in Grand Baie that serves high-quality and healthy food, I can’t recommend The Food Factory enough.

Kogi Kogi Korean BBQ Restaurant

$$$ | Location on Google Maps

If you’re looking for one of the best Korean restaurants in Grand Baie, I highly recommend Kogi Kogi Korean BBQ restaurant. From the mandu (lightly fried dumplings) to the chicken tanggsuyuk (sweet and sour chicken), jja jang myeon (noodles in black bean sauce) or yaksik (rice cake), every dish at Kogi Kogi oozes with flavor and I left with a newfound obsession for Korean food.

As soon as you enter the restaurant, you’ll be welcomed by the friendly staff who will direct you to a table. I love the décor and industrial look with the exposed ceilings and photographs of famous Korean buildings.

Every table is fitted with an electric BBQ grill with a retractable hood attached to the ceiling so you can cook your own BBQ meat. The soft Korean music playing in the background provides an overall relaxed vibe and will immediately transport you to Korea. They also have a separate kids’ area with plenty of toys and books to keep the kids occupied while you enjoy your meal.

The menu at Kogi Kogi Korean BBQ restaurant offers a great variety of authentic Korean dishes like the kimchi jeon (pancake with kimchi and mixed vegetables), mandu (Korean style dumplings), bibimbap (mixed rice with chicken, beef, octopus or tofu), bulgogi, samgyupsal (grilled pork belly) and dosiraks (Korean meal box). They also offer some vegetarian options as well.

My all-time favorite is the pork and beef mandu, lightly fried dumplings filled with pork, beef and glass noodles served with a flavored soy sauce. It comes in portions of 4 or 8 but I definitely recommend taking 8 as it’s extremely delicious.

The chicken tanggsuyuk with crispy chicken and veggies accompanied by a sweet and sour sauce was excellent. The chicken was very tender and the veggies had a nice crunch.

I also had some jja jang myeon, handmade noodles in black bean sauce served with pork. The noodles were extremely soft and almost melted in the mouth.

Finally, for dessert I ordered the yaksik, sticky rice cake with dates and pine nuts. It wasn’t overly sweet so you won’t feel guilty for treating yourself. Other desserts include cheesecake, sujeonggwa with rice cake and ice cream.

The service was great with minimal waiting time between dishes. Kogi Kogi is definitely one of the best places restaurants in Grand Baie!

The restaurant is located on the first floor along Vingt Pieds road. If you’re coming by car, there’s plenty of parking space in front and behind the restaurant.

O’Thai

$ | Location on Google Maps

For authentic Thai food, make sure to visit O’Thai restaurant situated at La Croisette Mall. They serve all the usual like pad thai, tom yum, thai green curry, satays and more. I had the chicken and shrimp pad thai which tasted just like the ones I had in Thailand.

The rice noodles were mixed in with generous portions of chicken, shrimp and tofu and the sprinkle of peanuts added a nice crunch to this authentic Thai dish. For less than Rs 200 (US$ 4.45), you can definitely indulge in your favorite Thai dishes without leaving Mauritius!

If you’re looking for a cheap restaurant in Grand Baie, I recommend eating at Tipo Grill. They serve all sorts of grilled meat at a super affordable price. From paninis to wraps and burgers, almost everything on their menu will set you back less than Rs 200 (US$ 4.45).

I had the crispy chicken wrap which cost only Rs 115 (US$ 2.55). The wrap was filled with a generous portion of crispy chicken pieces and loads of veggies like carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, lettuce and cheese.

The restaurant isn’t too big but has a small seating area in the back. They stay open until 2 a.m, so if you’re craving a midnight snack, you know where to go. The only downside is that the parking lot is quite small but overall it’s a great place to eat in Grand Baie on a budget.

Mammamia Che Gelato is an ice cream shop located at La Croisette Mall. I only had their Amarena gelato (cherry-flavored ice cream) but they also serve milkshakes, pastries, waffles, pancakes as well as pizza.

It can seem a bit expensive but the ice cream tasted so good, plus you can do a taste test before choosing your preferred flavor. There’s also a small outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your sweet treat.
